The data boundary

Privacy, stated plainly.

Pouchette is built so you can see what stays on this Mac and choose when text leaves it. The details matter, so this page avoids blanket claims.

What stays on this Mac

Audio never leaves this Mac. Capture and transcription run locally. Recordings, transcripts, reviewed notes, and meeting artifacts are stored in your local Pouchette library.

On-device retrieval, speaker processing, and Quick notes also stay local by default. The app writes its source-of-truth files under ~/Library/Application Support/Pouchette.

When text can leave

Notes and Ask follow the engine you choose. A local engine keeps them local. If you configure an external provider, a custom endpoint, a CLI, or optional Pouchette Cloud, the relevant transcript and notes context are sent for that specific request to the destination you selected.

Pouchette Cloud is optional and invite-only. It receives prompt text and an anonymous device token to fulfill the request; transcription still runs locally. A Notion export is available only through an explicit CLI command and sends the reviewed note you choose—not audio or a raw transcript.

Existing AI accounts and model discovery

Use your existing account: setup asks the installed Claude Code or Codex tool for its sign-in status and model suggestions. Pouchette does not copy the tool’s account credentials into its own settings. Catalog checks may contact the provider through the selected tool.

The optional Test notes action sends a short synthetic meeting through the selected notes engine and uses your account allowance. It does not use your recordings. Choosing a provider or opening settings does not automatically run this notes test.

Permissions and deletion

macOS asks before granting microphone and system-audio permissions. Calendar and Reminders access are optional. You can revoke permissions in System Settings at any time.

Your local library is yours to delete. Data you deliberately send to an external engine or export destination follows that provider’s retention policy.

Website measurement

This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate visits, referrers, page views and performance, without analytics cookies or cross-site visitor tracking. GitHub separately reports release-file download counts; these are not unique users or confirmed installations. Pouchette does not send meeting content or app product telemetry through website analytics.

If you ask for a Pouchette Cloud invite on this site, we keep your email address with the code we sent you, so one address gets one code. If you tick “Also send me occasional Pouchette updates”, we use it for those too, and each one has an unsubscribe link. Emails go out through Resend. Ask us and we’ll delete your address.

This is product documentation, not legal advice. If you handle regulated or sensitive information, assess your own policies and the providers you choose.
